Application and re-Interpretation of biblical traditions in the Book of Malachi. A traditio-historical study. Six passages in Malachi, together with the superscription (Mal 1:1) and the additions (Mal 3:22‐24), are analyzed. The creative use of the traditions is demonstrated, including the prophet's exegetical techniques. Lines of connections are detected between Malachi and legal texts (Leviticus and Deuteronomy), earlier prophetic words, Chronicles, and Wisdom literature.

This study reconsiders the Vulgate Cycle, and the functional interrelation of prophecy and epistemological critique in thirteenth-century Grail literature: no mere prediction, prophecy marks a critical strategy by which the nature and limits of knowledge are put into systematic question.

Prophecy's Quest is the second book in the Andarean Realms Prophecies series. The fantasy epic continues the tale of Brynn, the young elvan mage who is seen as the prophecised saviour - the one who will gain his people's freedom from the tyranny of human conquest. The story alternates action with world-building, and back story to create a well-balanced narrative pace. One of the keys to the story is the use of strong characters, such as Brynn, who is a naturally-gifted mage, but who is also still a child. Brynn's companion, a horse called Sershja, provides a point of humour, while his other companion, Sariah, a blind swordswoman, is a source of conflict and assistance. Brynn is also aided by rebel leader Riqu, and Baschia, one of the legendary dragon-cat race called may-en-ghi. Brynn faces formidable opponents such as Thane Nathan Kennelm, a ruthless and brutal man who is determined to hunt Brynn down, and Malithorn Abbarane, the human ruler of Andarea, who is a merciless as his thanes. Brynn also finds himself up against two highly-ranked elvan mages, Colnba and Nisari, who have betrayed their country in order to follow their own prophecy. There is also Akileena, a rebel mage who works for the enemy to keep his daughter safe. Known as Malithorn's assassin, Akileena will find himself faced with choosing between his daughter's life and the survival of his people. Written in style of a quest fantasy Prophecy's Quest has all the action of its predecessor, Prophecy's Deception, including narrow escapes, intense pursuits, and a final battle between mages who use walls of fire, lightning, and spears of ice to decimate their opponents. It also has the potential for extended market reach in that Prophecy's Quest will be followed by Prophecy's Diversion as well as the potential for further books in this series. Prophecy's Quest was edited by award-winning author and editor Craig Cormick (author of the Shadow Master series, Angry Robot Books).

This book is an interdisciplinary study of the relationship between prophecy and politics in South African Pentecostalism. The role and the power of prophecy in enhancing the presence of politicians in the church square are unpacked through historical examples, as well as case studies of contemporary prophets. Solomon Kgatle argues that the influence of prophecy in politics has the potential to weaken the prophetic voice of the church in general and the Pentecostal movement in particular. He proposes a Pentecostal political theology of prophecy. This theology is developed by taking into cognizance the theoretical and theological frameworks of prophetic imagination and pneumatological imagination. In addition, this theology seeks a balance between prophecy and power and prophecy and sovereignty.

Jan Stievermann's pioneering study of Cotton Mather's Biblia Americana examines this Puritan scholar's engagement with the Hebrew Bible as Old Testament. The author focuses specifically on Mather's struggle to uphold or modify traditional typological and allegorical readings in the face of a growing awareness of the historicity of Scriptures. Other key issues include Mather's interventions in the contemporary debates over the legitimacy of Christian interpretations of the prophets, as well as over the authorship, provenance, genre, and spiritual import of texts such as Ecclesiastes and Canticles. Stievermann's book yields fascinating insights into an underappreciated phase of exegesis that was at once traditionalist and innovative, apologetically oriented, pious, and open to new modes of historical-textual criticism. Moreover, it shows how Mather's biblical exegesis fits into the broader development of Puritan theology and identity. --
