Download Listen And Learn - Fifteen Years Of Adult Education On The Air Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This volume is more reportorial than scholarly. It is the product of an effort to collect and relate to one another the important facts about adult education by radio, past and present. I have had a limited time for this effort. Therefore I have attempted no research (although seeking to take account of that done by others), and have confined myself to reading, observing, interviewing, and listening to broadcasts. In the course of these activities I have spent several months in visiting radio stations in various parts of the country, from New York to Los Angeles, and have heard many hundreds of their programs. I have talked both with station and network officials, and with a large number of engineers, educators, and representatives of educational groups.

Download Communication Technology and Human Development Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This book explores the role of communication in development using the framework of communication designed for behaviour change. The author emphasizes the role of communication in advocacy, social mobilisation, training, research and programme support. The first section provides a historical perspective on communication and development, outlining how communication has evolved from a system of delivering messages to one consciously designed to elicit the participation of the people in development initiatives. Section two presents case-studies from the Indian perspective, which provides an analytical look at new approaches in the fields of elementary education and adult literacy, rural development and primary health care. The concluding section recommends a research-based professional approach to communication for behaviour change and suggests various crucial areas where strategic communication can play a pivotal role in development.

Download New Technologies for Literacy and Adult Education Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
New technology can provide powerful new tools for enriching the lives of poor people and communities in unprecedented ways. At least that was the view of the G8 Digital Opportunities Task Force in 2001. A view that is upheld and further explored in the pages of this book. With an estimated 850 million illiterate people in the world today, this book explores how new information and communication technology (ICT) supports basic literacy and the information skills crucial for economic and social development.
