Over the seven decades of Pablo Picasso's artistic career, there were subjects to which he returned again and again. These include women, bulls, and the Old Masters as well as political and literary themes, circus people, mythical creatures, and interiors. In order to further explore his changing personal perspective on these subjects, this book showcases Pablo Picasso's graphic work in chapters structured according to these recurring themes. 'Women, Bullfights, Old Masters' presents 200 graphic prints, lithographs, drawings, and collages from Pablo Picasso's artistic beginnings in the early 1900s to his late works from the 1960s. Ranging from black and white to colourful, the artwork represents his various styles from classic to cubistic to surrealistic. The included texts not only examine the work in a historical context, but also reevaluate it from a contemporary point of view.0Exhibition: Staatliche Museen zu Berlin - Kulturforum, Germany (13.9.2013-12.1.2014).

This catalogue, which accompanies an exhibition held at Gagosian Gallery in Athens, features landmark linocut prints made by Pablo Picasso between 1959 and 1963. Pablo Picasso restlessly explored the medium of the print throughout his life, employing many techniques including lithography, etching, drypoint, and monotype. By the late 1950s, he was spending most of his time in the south of France, and the distance between him and his Parisian printers became increasingly difficult for smooth production. He turned his attention to lino-cutting, a very direct way of working whereby a design is cut into a sheet of linoleum using a knife, chisel, or gouge. His first linocut was a simple black-and-white print, but by 1959 he was using the technique as a complete means of expression. His subjects ranged from Jacqueline Roque, his muse, wife, and constant companion, to Old Master portraits in which he pays homage to El Greco.
