Johan Wilhelm Andreas Zumwald (Andrew Zumwalt), son of Johann Philipp ZumWald and Susanna Feller, was born about 1698 in Switzerland. He married Anna Catharina Margretha Jacobs or Jacobin, daughter of Hans Wolfgang Jacobs and Catherina Lisabetha (surname not listed), on 2 Nov 1728. Anna was born 14 Nov 1703 in Bavaria. They immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in Sep 1737, settling in York County. They had 5 children. Anna died about 1741-42 in York County, Pennsylvania. Andrew married Anna Regina, surname not listed, about 1743-44 in York County. They had 6 children. Andrew died after 20 Oct 1764 in Frederick County, Virginia. No death date is listed for Anna Regina, however she died after Andrew. His descendants have lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, Wisconsin, and other areas in the United States.

Two items of particular importance are "Solomon Zumwalt's Account of His Life", detailing his crossing of the Plains, settlement in Oregon, early life in Lane County, and the origins of the Methodist-Episcopal Church in Lane County; and "Biographa of Adam Zumwalt", written by Solomon Zumwalt. The latter has been published by Lane County Historical Society. There is one folder of miscellaneous family correspondence, chiefly from Missouri. Also includes ledger for the Inman-Zumwalt threshing operation near Elmira, Or. (1895).

Andrew Zumwalt was born at Strassburg, Alsace-Lorraine, in 1698. He is said to be the son of Adam Zumwalt. He immigrated to America in 1737 and settled first in Pennsylvania then moved to Frederick Virginia. He married twice. He and his first wife, Mary, had five children; he and his second wife, Ann Regina, had six children. He died in Frederick County in 1764. Descendants lived in Missouri, Illinois, California, Kentucky and elsewhere.
