One Act Plays for Kids is the creative result of my work with Bottle Tree Productions acting students. The kids in these classes are from 6-12 In our ten week acting sessions, we get together for the first two or three classes and do theatre games, improv stories and basic acting techniques. Usually the students come up with story ideas, characters and they work out an initial improvised story which I then turn into a script. King Hector the Horizontal is the story of a brave princess who climbs a mountain to slay a dragon and save the kingdom guppy getaway is an underwater fantasy about life under the sea for a school of guppies who get lost in the ocean Night of the Gnomes is the story of Four garden gnomes rise up in rebellion against their human masters. Toys in the Closet speaks to the imagination in all children-The idea that their toys are alive Our Acting Classes are a safe place for students to share their imagination and creativity. Theatre is a place where kids can bond with other like-minded kids. Their skills are honed in front of a jury of their peers. They quickly learn what works and what doesn't. Their ideas form the basis of these scripts. As a result these plays do not speak down to kids, but speaks for them, using their own words, their own thoughts and their own imaginations.

One Act Plays for Kids were plays that were developed in our acting classes for kids at Bottle Tree Productions. Parts have been written for kids from six up to twelve years of age. There are four plays, ranging from a fairy tale of a poor miller's daughter and the hobgoblin that helps her to marry a king, to a fantasy about the magical land of bubbles, to a boy's dream of rabbits rising up against the cats and dogs that have kept them in fear for so long and finally, an old-time story of a Viking invasion of England. The plays all spring from the imagination of young children. The plays can be as simple in set design as a bare stage or as elaborate as imagination allows. Costumes, too, can be elaborate or simple. These plays provide good parts for all children involved. Many of the parts are gender neutral. Ranging from a play with parts for five kids up to a play involving 20 kids, there are various options in this collection for different-sized casts.
