"When Phyllis Tickle's marvelous devotional trilogy The Divine Hours appeared, readers responded with gratitude, praise, and a great many requests for an edition of hourly prayers that they could easily carry with them - an edition that would make this ancient form of Christian worship compatible with the pace and mobility of modern life." "Now, in The Divine Hours Packet Edition, Tickle has gathered one full week of fixed-hour prayers, providing an ideal companion for travelers, office-workers, people on retreat or pilgrimage, as well as newcomers to this age-old spiritual practice. Seven daily offices are offered for each day of the week, and each office contains the Call to Prayer, the Request for Presence, the Greeting, the Reading, the Gloria, the Psalm, the Small Verse, the Lord's Prayer, the Petition, and the Final Thanksgiving. Tickle draws her texts primarily from the Book of Common Prayer and the writings of the Church Fathers, and includes memorable devotional and meditative poems by Cleland McAfee, Charles Wesley, and others."--BOOK JACKET.

The third and final volume in a trilogy of prayer manuals compiled by Publishers Weekly religion editor Phyllis Tickle as a contemporary Book of Hours to guide Christians gently yet authoritatively through the daily offices. The Divine Hours is the first major literary and liturgical reworking of the sixth-century Benedictine Rule of fixed-hour prayer. This beautifully conceived and thoroughly modern three-volume guide will appeal to the theological novice as well as to the ecclesiastical sophisticate. Making primary use of the Book of Common Prayer and the writings of the Church Fathers, The Divine Hours is also a companion to the New Jerusalem Bible, from which it draws its Scripture readings. The trilogy blends prayer and praise in a way that, while extraordinarily fresh, respects and builds upon the ancient wisdom of Christianity. The third and final book in the set, Prayers for Springtime, provides prayers, psalms, and readings for this season associated with rebirth. Compact, it is perfect for those seeking greater spiritual depth. As a contemporary Book of Hours, The Divine Hours: Prayers for Springtime heralds a renewal of the tradition of disciplined daily prayer, and gives those already using the first two volumes the completion they are seeking. With this volume, the series culminates with three prayer manuals encompassing the liturgical and calendar year with the offices for every day.

This book is the result of an overwhelming number of requests for another volume of The Book of Daily Prayer: Morning and Evening, last published in 2004. As with previous volumes, this new, living volume contains daily devotionals in inclusive language for every morning and evening of the year, used in conjunction with one's Bible, and is written by a diverse group of individuals in a style referred to as "praying the Scriptures." Ideal for individual for group settings.

Equally useful for group or individual prayer, Daily Prayer 2025’s easy-to-use format centers each day’s prayer on a Scripture reading from the daily Mass, along with the recitation of a psalm, reflection, intercessions, the Lord’s Prayer, and closing prayer. Beginning with the First Sunday of Advent, December 1, 2024, and ending with the last day of the liturgical year, Saturday, November 29, 2025, the prayer on these pages will inspire and bring readers to a deeper appreciation for the Word of God.

For all who are interested in the daily office and praying the hours. People in all kinds of religious traditions, including Judaism and Christianity, have been marking time with prayer for almost as long as we’ve divided the day into hours. “Praying the hours,” as it’s called, has always reminded us that God walks with us throughout each day; “praying the hours” is also a way that the community of faith comes together, whether we’re united all in one place or scattered like raindrops. In the Episcopal Church, the Book of Common Prayer offers beautiful services for morning, noon, evening, and nighttime in a section called “The Daily Office” (pp 35-146). Daily Prayer for All Seasons offers a variation on that theme, where a complete service covers one or two pages, thereby eliminating the need to shuffle prayer books and hymnals. Daily Prayer for All Seasons works for individuals, small groups, and/or congregations. This prayer book presents a variety of images of God, uses inclusive and expansive language for and about God, and presents a rich variety of language, including poetry, meditation, and prayers from the broader community of faith.
