Publicado en 1940 por entregas, El Nuevo Orden Mundial fue para muchos una utopía, algo irrealizable que no dejaba de ser más que un legado de buenas intenciones, así lo expresaron alguno de los críticos más duros como pudo ser George Orwell, cuyas ideas se situaron a las antípodas de las de Wells.
