Starting in the summer of 2018 - and the two subsequent blooming seasons - the author, using the camera in his cell phone, took natural but artfully composed wildflower photos on his daily dog walks. It was his purpose to capture the awe and delight he'd experienced over the years since his first exposure to the wildflowers of the Southwest. For the most part, he has used the common names of the flowers in each entry, adding anecdotal information gleaned from his research and his own observations. Although it is as accurate a report on the history, folklore, medicinal uses, and/or botanical makeup of each plant as he can provide, it is not intended to be a scientific survey or an addition to the professional botanical literature. This book is meant for people who - like himself - are transplants to the Southwest, and for those visitors who pour into New Mexico - this branded "Land of Enchantment." Locals who are just beginning to explore the myriad of wildflowers and plants in Northern New Mexico and the surrounds of Santa Fe may also enjoy and learn from the book. Strewn among the various entries, the author has also included poetry, quotations, and some additional photos that he hopes will give the reader a sense of the time and place of his wildflower-gathering.
