The years of “reconstruction” in the South were many times a facade and only appeared to enforce the statutory policies of Reconstruction imposed by the Union. It was here that much of U.S. law enforcement in the South was manipulated, and a noble occupation sold out to the highest bidder. Because in the end, as it was in the beginning, it was indeed all about money.
