The Innovation in the Teaching of Research Methods Excellence Awards is an established annual event. We continue to be encouraged by the interest which has been shown in these Excellence Awards, as we believe that the case histories recorded here are a valuable asset to those who are trying to improve their teaching of research methodology in the social sciences. Initially 18 submissions were received, and 9 contenders were invited to submit a full case history describing their initiative. These case histories were double-blind peer reviewed, and this publication contains the entries of the shortlisted contestants. We are once again pleased to see the global reach these Awards have with contributions this year from Australia, Germany, Norway, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Not that many years ago academics spoke about there being individuals who were teachers and other individuals who were researchers. The suggestion was that teachers were not necessarily competent researchers and equally it was not necessarily clear that good researchers would make good teachers. There may have been some truth in this and maybe there still is. However, the main thrust of universities have been that research is the sine qua non for an academic career. This being the case all academics, whether they are designated as teachers or researchers, need to know something about research methodology and research methods. It is for this reason that the European Conference on Business Research Methods has had a substantial following the last 16 years. But as well as having academics present research papers on the topic of research methodology for business and management studies we have been interested to elicit and record examples of good practice in the teaching of this important topic. For this reason we established the Excellence Awards in this field three years ago. This publication contains the entries from the shortlisted contestants and gives the reader a good overview of the type of issues which academics are coping with in classrooms today in various parts of the world.

Download Advanced Interdisciplinary Applications of Machine Learning Python Libraries for Data Science Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The world is approaching a point where big data will start to play a beneficial role in many industries and organizations. Today, analyzing data for new insights has become an everyday norm, increasing the need for data analysts to use efficient and appropriate tools to provide quick and valuable results to clients. Existing research in the field currently lacks a full coverage of all essential algorithms, leaving a knowledge void for practical implementation and code in Python with all needed libraries and links to datasets used. Advanced Interdisciplinary Applications of Machine Learning Python Libraries for Data Science serves as a one-stop book to help emerging data scientists gain hands-on skills needed through real-world data and completely up-to-date Python code. It covers all the technical details, from installing the needed software to importing libraries and using the latest data sets; deciding on the right model; training, testing, and evaluating the model; and including NumPy, Pandas, and matplotlib. With coverage on various machine learning algorithms like regression, linear and logical regression, classification, support vector machine (SVM), clustering, k-nearest neighbor, market basket analysis, Apriori, k-means clustering, and visualization using Seaborne, it is designed for academic researchers, undergraduate students, postgraduate students, executive education program leaders, and practitioners.
