The standard model in particle physics is such a successful model, which agrees well with almost all experimental tests in the past more than 20 years. However, there is large hope that new physics beyond the standard model would show up in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Meanwhile, many direct and indirect dark matter searches have shown signs of potential signals. If confirmed, the properties of the most mysterious but dominant part of matter constitute will be unveiled soon. In this thesis, we mainly have three sections. First, we will talk in detail about LHC phenomenology. This includes several topics, recovering particle masses from missing energy signatures with displaced tracks, diagnosing the top-quark angular asymmetry using LHC in- trinsic charge asymmetries, signature searches, including multi-lepton and diphoton searches, in the early LHC. After collider phenomenology, we will discuss a study for dark matter, which is focused on the indirect search, i.e. gamma ray spectra from dark matter annihilation and decay. And in the last section, we will cover several topics about some studies on formal side of physics, including metastable spontaneous SUSY breaking in a landscape of fuzzy droplets, entropic force and its fluctuation from gauge/gravity duality.

Dark matter is a frequently discussed topic in contemporary particle physics. There is overwhelming evidence that non-baryonic dark matter constitutes ~ 27% of the energy density of the Universe. Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) are promising dark matter candidates that may produce [gamma] rays via annihilation or decay detectable by the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT). A detection of WIMPs would also indicate the existence of physics beyond the Standard Model. We present recent results from the two cleanest indirect WIMP searches by the Fermi-LAT Collaboration: searches for [gamma]-ray spectral lines and [gamma]-ray emission associated with Milky Way dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies.

This thesis attempts to address two outstanding issues in the Standard Model of particle physics. The first of these two has to do with the lack of a viable dark matter candidate in the Standard Model. Many recent experimental results hint at the possibility of a light dark matter particle. If it is light enough, one may consider producing these particles at colliders. Parts of this thesis considers effective theories of dark matter as a way to develop a language to compare collider searches for dark matter to direct and indirect detection experiments. The second of these two issues explores the more aesthetic problem of the gauge hierarchy through construction of supersymmetry breaking models. In the first set of models, we construct UV completions of O'Raifeartaigh-like models which spontaneously break R symmetry. In the final chapter, we construct a R symmetric GMSB model in which we use Seiberg dynamics to generate supersoft Dirac gaugino masses.
