Excerpt from Second Report of the Secretary of the Class of 1872 of Harvard College: June, 1875 The report was intended to include all those who were ever in the Class; but I have kept distinct those who left College before graduation, to prevent any confusion. With the exception of a few details, it is supposed to be dated June 1, 1875. The history of the Class as a Class for the past three years is brief. Such meetings as have been held are given in the last part of the report. The only other matter of great importance has been the presentation of the class-cradle. The fortunate youth was born Dec. 13, 1873, and immediately put in his claim, which was found to be uncontested; and accordingly measures were im mediately taken to honor him as the first descendant of the Class should be honored. He declined waiting for a cradle proper; so the next best thing was to give him an emblematic cradle, which consisted of a fruit or cake dish of silver in the shape of a cradle, and engraved on one end, so that no one should mistake it for a boan class-cradle. Excerpt from Third Report of the Secretary of the Class of 1872 of Harvard College: June, 1872-June, 1878 The record is made to cover the whole time, since graduation, for the reason that several of the Class have never received or have lost the Second Report, of which I have not copies enough left to supply the demand.
