This book is to provide guidance on using and interpreting single-species toxicity tests for protecting the environment. It focuses on the toxicity tests published by Environment Canada, and supplements the other documents of that department, which deal with sampling, testing, analyses. Aquatic tests receive most emphasis because they are in more frequent use, but tests with sediments and soil also receive coverage. Both lethal and sublethal tests are included.

Download Genomics in Regulatory Ecotoxicology Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Fueled partially by large, well-publicized efforts such as the Human Genome Project, genomic research is a rapidly growing area in multiple biological disciplines, including toxicology. Much of this potential, however, has been discussed in the literature and at technical meetings only in relatively broad terms, making it difficult to assess exactl

Download General and Applied Toxicology, 6 Volume Set Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Encompassing 150 articles written by leading scientists in the field, the third edition of General and Applied Toxicology provides a comprehensive and in-depth review of the basic science of toxicology, its specializations, and the application of toxicological knowledge. This new edition reflects developments within the field that have taken place since the second edition was published in 1999. These include: New information developed in the areas of both the fundamental and applied aspects of toxicology Considerable increase in the development of fundamental information and its applications, refinement of technical methods, advances in mechanistic toxicology, and greater interest in areas of toxicology previously regarded as of limited scope Changing approaches to methodological, interpretative, regulatory, and ethical aspects of basic and applied toxicology General and Applied Toxicology, 3rd Edition is the first port of call for academic researchers, industrial researchers, regulatory professionals, and advanced students looking for timely and authoritative information in the field. Due to the increase in public and media interest in exposure to toxic substances, this provides an indispensable general reference source for general physicians, lawyers, law enforcement agencies, information resource facilities, and members of the general public. New online resource available now! In 2011, the content from the third edition of General and Applied Toxicology merged with the two-volume Handbook of Systems Toxicology. The result? General, Applied and Systems Toxicology - a new online resource combining traditional toxicology with the latest developments to present the ultimate reference in toxicology! Download Guidance Document for Testing the Pathogenicity and Toxicity of New Microbial Substances to Aquatic and Terrestrial Organisms Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The intent of this document is to provide guidance on preparing for and conducting single-species tests to measure and evaluate the pathogenicity and/or toxicity of new microbial substances to aquatic and terrestrial organisms. It focuses on the information requirements with respect to laboratory tests for measuring the potential ecological effects of new microbial substances on the following six categories of test (host) organisms, that might be required by Environment Canada as part of the New Substances Notification (NSN) Regulations under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999: (1) an aquatic plant; (2) an aquatic invertebrate; (3) an aquatic vertebrate; (4) a terrestrial plant; (5) a terrestrial invertebrate; and (6) a terrestrial vertebrate. The guidance herein is intended for notifiers, environmental consultants, study directors, and principal investigators. It will assist in the selection of an appropriate series of biological test methods for measuring the pathogenicity and/or toxicity of new microbial substances, as well as in the planning, execution, and reporting phases associated with each test.
