"The single greatest work of theology of the past century. I'm reading it right now, in Heaven, because I'm dead."-Saint Pius X"You are blocked from following @taylorrmarshall and viewing @taylorrmarshalll's tweets."-Dr. Taylor Marshall, author of InfiltrationIn a year when everything seemed to be going wrong with the world, Tony Ginocchio noticed that there were a lot of Catholics in American public life who seemed to be making everything even worse, and that didn't make him feel great as a Catholic himself. Over the course of a year, he became obsessed with the conspiracy-spouting, extremely online, reactionary wing of the American Catholic church, and how they all got that way. Enduring self-published PDFs, blogging canon lawyers, low-budget anti-abortion propaganda films, endless YouTube interview shows, janky merch websites, and a very bad country album, he put together these obsessively researched, gleefully unauthorized, and searingly funny essays on the weirdest, dumbest, and saddest members of his church, in an attempt to find out how American Catholicism ended up here in 2020, and maybe what we can do about it. This edition includes revised and expanded versions of the 2019-2020 essays originally published as part of the Grift of the Holy Spirit newsletter.

A Distinguished Theologian on the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit Distinguished theologian Matthew Levering offers a historical examination of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, defending an Augustinian model against various contemporary theological views. A companion piece to Levering's Engaging the Doctrine of Revelation, this work critically engages contemporary and classical doctrines of the Holy Spirit in dialogue with Orthodox and Reformed interlocutors. Levering makes a strong dogmatic case for conceiving of the Holy Spirit as love between Father and Son, given to the people of God as a gift.

"When someone offers another person a gift, the first thing the receiver should do is acknowledge the gift, then express gratitude for it, and finally, put it to good use" (pg. 3). But what if that gift is the greatest gift imaginable--the Holy Spirit, God himself? Father Andrew Apostoli shows us how we are to accept the gift of the Holy Spirit: we acknowledge him by knowing who he is, we thank God for his gift, and we put that gift to good use by allowing the Holy Spirit to transform and perfect us as children of God. With charming humor, encouraging anecdotes, and clear explanations, Father Andrew draws on the wisdom of the Scriptures and the saints to explore the Holy Spirit's vital influence in our lives. Indeed, only by the aid of the Holy Spirit can we hope to thrive fruitfully in our vocations as lay people, priests, or religious. The reflection questions that accompany each chapter inspire the reader to self-awareness and to apply actively Father Andrew's insights to his or her unique spiritual growth. Rediscover the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Life, helping us to die to ourselves and to be reborn in Christ. Be restored in fortitude, patience, and perseverance by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Courage. Learn to grow in patience with one's self, to avoid the misguided desire for human respect, and to respond bravely to our call to sanctity. Come to accept the Spirit who strengthens us to pursue love of God fearlessly and never compromise our convictions. Father Andrew's The Gift of God: The Holy Spirit compels all readers to reevaluate their relationship with the Holy Spirit and to respond with fervor and gladness to the Holy Spirit, the gift and giver of all good things.

This book is being published as gift to the Chaminade-Nativity Community of Faith - It is they who brought me from a very dark place into the light. They restored my faith and gave me hope. Like Ezekiel’s vision (37) in the graveyard, I received the Holy Spirit and came to life! This is my gift to them. I have published it to preserve 40 years of private revelation given to me by the Holy Spirit. I believe that the Lord wants it published to remind us that we are well loved, that he is alive and well in his church, and that He died for all mankind. In the Catholic Church, these words are considered “private revelation”, as distinguished from the Scriptures or the official teachings and doctrine of the Catholic Church. As such, they require consultation and discernment as to their authenticity. Before publication they were submitted to the Magisterium of the Archdiocese of Miami (as the conscience of the community) and found to be free of doctrinal or moral error. This process is known as receiving the Imprimatur – see on page 3. As members of the Charismatic Renewal part of each meeting is devoted to listening to the Lord and speaking out a word He may have for us. We call it “prophecy”. Its authenticity is discerned by the community. We believe that prophecy is one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit given to us to guide, correct, encourage, and build community, reminding us that God remains with His church and continues to reveal Himself to us. Prophecy is ordinarily spoken out spontaneously, not written as mine is. Over the years I wondered why my prophecy was written, until I started to prepare this book for publication. It was then that I realized that He knew 40 years ago that He wanted this book to be published. Had they been given spontaneously they would not have been written down and I would not have had them to publish. It had taken me 40 years to see it. Two books, God Calling and Jesus Calling were the inspiration for the title of the book. These two authors, looking for a reason to go on living, found no consolation in their desperate prayers. In a final effort they decided to pray as usual, listen and write down anything they thought could be a response from God. In their listening a dialogue began that flowered into relationship. Something interesting happened in the process of publication. Because many people, when they read some of the words thought that it was poetry I had written myself, I wanted to assure that everyone knew that I was not the author of the book but that I was, like the other two authors, only a listener and collector of the words. This was made clear in the Introduction and Conclusion of the book. After much thought I decided that under these circumstances it would be best to use a pen name rather than my own and had fun picking one out – A.L. Istener (a listener). After sending the name in to the publisher I had lunch with a friend and colleague who is Hungarian. “Isten”, she said, means “God” in Hungarian. He had figured that out too. Oddity: Most of the words have no punctuation – After praying about it, my understanding is that those who know his voice know his inflections also, which makes punctuation unnecessary. I like the sound of it better myself without it. It is my hope that those who read this book do so using the following method – His favorite invitation “Come here, climb into My arms. Let Me cradle you right here, close to My heart. Can you hear it beating? I just want to love you.” I guarantee that you will be able to recognize his voice too.

Many Christians today have misconceptions about the identity and nature of the Holy Spirit. Some view God's Spirit as merely an influence, like wind, force, or fire. However, believers need to seek and understand the truth to deepen their understanding of God's nature. In "The Power Of The Holy Spirit: A Gift From God," Dr. Christina Asare delves into the profound mystery of the Holy Spirit. She explains that the Holy Spirit is not just a force but God's very Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, and understanding the Holy Spirit means recognizing Him as Jesus Christ's presence among us. Although Jesus walked on the earth with His disciples, His presence continues through the Holy Spirit, embodying God's essence. This insightful book explores the Holy Spirit's role in guiding, empowering, and enriching the lives of believers. Dr. Asare combines theological insights with practical applications to help readers experience the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. By understanding that the Holy Spirit is essentially the presence of Jesus Christ, believers can cultivate a deeper relationship with God and experience His divine influence in their daily lives. "The Power Of The Holy Spirit: A Gift From God" is an essential read for anyone seeking to grow in their faith and gain a more profound understanding of the Holy Spirit's nature and role. Let Dr. Christina Asare guide you on a journey to embrace the Holy Spirit's presence and power in your life. In Second Corinthians 3:17, Paul says, “Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Paul is saying that the same Jesus Christ who was with the disciples over two thousand years ago is the same who has manifested as the Holy Spirit and is living inside believers today. The Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit, and Jesus Christ is God.
