This is more especially so among the plums and small fruits. But, in examining a catalog, one thing cannot help but be observed; that the old leading sorts still maintain their place at the very head of the list and, therefore, in the revision of this catalog, care has been taken to leave out such varieties as are not considered valu able, and only-such varieties are given place as are now in general cultivation (some of which will succeed well only in certain locations), so that by a judicious selection from the list, a model orchard may be obtained.
