The Water Quality and Environmental Biology Branches of the Division of Environmental Planning, in cooperation with the Division of Navigation Development and Regional Studies and the Division of Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife Development conducted a limited study to evaluate problems caused in the aquatic environment by sand and gravel dredging operations. The study was designed to detect only gross effects that were relatively easy to measure. The direct assessment of effects on fish and on fishing was beyond the scope of the work.
