Download Essays on Attaining Spiritual Self-Mastery a Book for Meditation, Prayer, and Journaling Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
.There are many ways to approach the spiritual path. One way involves creating and integrating processes in support of unfolding consciousness. An important step of the spiritual journey is rooted in the ability to process what is being learned and to then integrate that energy into everyday life. This is the only doorway that stands between this world and the truth that lies behind the veils. Without a physical process, the journey becomes intellectual and abstract, and short on first-hand knowing. These methods include time honored traditions like meditation, prayer, initiation, retreats and ceremony. The intent of these modalities, as well as so many other paths that create a process, represent a focused and concentrated effort toward becoming. The content of this book represents part of my own spiritual process - reprints of some of the columns I have written over the last two years. Each of the essays is the integration of spiritual information I received as a part of my spiritual process through study, meditation and writing. There always seems to be a pattern to my writing that reflects my need to understand the world, the place I hold and my relationship with the Divine. In that way, these essays represent what I have been learning and thinking about as I moved through the world over these last two years. They are the things that I have been processing, and then asking myself the hard questions, as I journey deeper into who I am and the nature of my being. Over the years I learned one the best ways for me to do this kind of processing has been through writing, most often in the form of my journal. This book is an extension of that process and a way for me to share my spiritual self-talk in a meaningful and supportive way. The book is set up in a way that gives you an opportunity to read the essays in a cohesive and organized manner. Included at the end of most of the essays are a few questions to help support you in your own process.

Download Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The very idea that the teachings can be mastered will arouse controversy within Buddhist circles. Even so, Ingram insists that enlightenment is an attainable goal, once our fanciful notions of it are stripped away, and we have learned to use meditation as a method for examining reality rather than an opportunity to wallow in self-absorbed mind-noise. Ingram sets out concisely the difference between concentration-based and insight (vipassana) meditation; he provides example practices; and most importantly he presents detailed maps of the states of mind we are likely to encounter, and the stages we must negotiate as we move through clearly-defined cycles of insight. Its easy to feel overawed, at first, by Ingram's assurance and ease in the higher levels of consciousness, but consistently he writes as a down-to-earth and compassionate guide, and to the practitioner willing to commit themselves this is a glittering gift of a book.In this new edition of the bestselling book, the author rearranges, revises and expands upon the original material, as well as adding new sections that bring further clarity to his ideas.

Download The Spirit-Led Leader Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Download Passage Meditation Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Pioneered by spiritual master Eknath Easwaran, passage meditation consists of memorizing an inspirational spiritual passage and then sending it deep into consciousness through slow, sustained attention. It keeps meditation fresh and varied because readers can select the passages - from one tradition or many - that embody their chosen ideals. Many readers also enjoy the passages for their poetic and intellectual appeal. This form of meditation offers all the richness and depth of traditional wisdom, together with a practical method for bringing that wisdom into daily life. The book situates passage meditation as part of Easwaran's eight-point program that, based on traditional spiritual practices but adjusted for modern lifestyles, shows readers how to stay calm and focused at work and home. This edition includes a new preface of previously unpublished material by Easwaran and an epilogue that explains the story behind the book and invites new readers to join the author on this adventure in the ''world within.''

Download Living in Beauty Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Living in Beauty - Buddhist Loving Kindness Practice begins with traditional teachings on how we can cultivate metta, or loving kindness, starting from wherever we are now in our lives. This love is the basis for what is known as the Bodhisattva Vow, which is the aim to benefit others as much as we can through actualizing a spiritual path. Metta then finds expression through Engaged Buddhism.

Download God, Sexuality, and the Self Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
God, Sexuality and the Self is a new venture in systematic theology. Sarah Coakley invites the reader to re-conceive the relation of sexual desire and the desire for God and - through the lens of prayer practice - to chart the intrinsic connection of this relation to a theology of the Trinity. The goal is to integrate the demanding ascetical undertaking of prayer with the recovery of lost and neglected materials from the tradition and thus to reanimate doctrinal reflection both imaginatively and spiritually. What emerges is a vision of human longing for the triune God which is both edgy and compelling: Coakley's théologie totale questions standard shibboleths on 'sexuality' and 'gender' and thereby suggests a way beyond current destructive impasses in the churches. The book is clearly and accessibly written and will be of great interest to all scholars and students of theology.

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Here is the Nobel Prize winner in her own words: a rich gathering of her most important essays and speeches, spanning four decades that "speaks to today’s social and political moment as directly as this morning’s headlines” (NPR). These pages give us her searing prayer for the dead of 9/11, her Nobel lecture on the power of language, her searching meditation on Martin Luther King Jr., her heart-wrenching eulogy for James Baldwin. She looks deeply into the fault lines of culture and freedom: the foreigner, female empowerment, the press, money, “black matter(s),” human rights, the artist in society, the Afro-American presence in American literature. And she turns her incisive critical eye to her own work (The Bluest Eye, Sula, Tar Baby, Jazz, Beloved, Paradise) and that of others. An essential collection from an essential writer, The Source of Self-Regard shines with the literary elegance, intellectual prowess, spiritual depth, and moral compass that have made Toni Morrison our most cherished and enduring voice.
