The purpose of the full scale tests is to determine the time drainage characteristics of two types of saturated base course materials each in two thicknesses, laid upon an impervious subgrade and with impervious sides and pavement. The tests were conducted upon sections of the same transverse slope, length and width with two thicknesses, using pea gravel, and sand and gravel for the base course materials. Field in-place and laboratory permeability tests on remolded samples were conducted. In addition, laboratory tests were performed for grain size, effective porosity, and critical velocity; and field tests were performed to determine unit dry weight and water content. The results of correlations of these tests with the theoretical investigations and the viscous fluid model tests will be presented in the comprehensive report to which this is an appendix. (Author).
