My sisters have been in a magical slumber for centuries, my mother, the last great battle queen is dead, leaving me to face the world alone. I’m the last of my kind. A queen, not entirely shifter and not entirely witch but a perfect blend of both. I’ve been living in hiding for over four hundred years, avoiding ties with the supernatural community, specifically the Council and the Alpha of all alphas, like the plague. That is, until I find myself challenging for alpha of the New England pack in front of both the shifter and witch communities. Now, I’m the leader of both. Fuck, I’m the leader of both. I’ve put myself square in the Council’s sight, my time in hiding forcibly over. But the Council is the least of my problems. Malick, the oldest Archdemon to walk the earth, is still alive despite my mother's best efforts. His legion growing in number by the day. I may want to keep myself and my new community away from his legion, but I know that the only way we’ll ever be safe is to kill him. Countless queens have tried. All of them failing even with their alpha dragon mates and supernatural communities. I’m going to have to work with the Alpha, Caleb, and the Council if I want to end Malick and wipe out his legion for good. Unfortunately, Caleb also happens to be my mate, as in soulmate, together forever, never to be parted, partners in crime. I know that he won’t let me go after we’ve finished wiping Malick from the face of the earth. But I refuse to be subject to the Council’s control. I also need to find a way to wake my sisters because what’s coming for us is far worse than Malick and there are no guarantees there will be any survivors.

After turning a demon inside out on the battlefield, I learn that I’m a new breed of queen. Like my best friend, Ayla, I’m the perfect combination of shifter and witch. I just have no idea how to use my new powers. My panther isn’t the same either. There’s a lot to adjust to, but I don’t have any time to think about adjusting. Ayla, Caleb, Malcolm, and I have gone off to Ireland in search of answers. Answers about the prophecy, about the mysterious force that saved Malick during that final battle, about how Kelly, Darcy, and I are suddenly queens like Ayla and her sisters, but most importantly, about Ayla’s sisters and where they’re hidden. I’ve got so much on my plate that you would think the last thing I want to deal with is a temperamental mate, and you’d be right. I knew the instant I changed on the battlefield that Malcolm is my mate. He’s claiming that he’s giving me time because of all the changes that I’ve gone through lately, but I think that’s a load of crap. I’m determined to make him see that I don’t need time when it comes to claiming him. He does have a small point, though. There are so many different puzzle pieces that we have no idea how they all connect. We’re going to need to put those pieces together quickly if we want to survive. Malick is back, but he isn’t alone. And Malick turns out not to be the threat we originally thought he was. The goddesses had told Ayla that there was someone out there worse than he is, and they weren’t kidding. What we learn about those seven beings is terrifying. If all the gods and goddesses couldn’t kill them, how the hell are we supposed to?

Cult graphic novelist Dylan Meconis offers a rich reimagining of history in this beautifully detailed hybrid novel loosely based on the exile of Queen Elizabeth I by her sister, Queen Mary. When her sister seizes the throne, Queen Eleanor of Albion is banished to a tiny island off the coast of her kingdom, where the nuns of the convent spend their days peacefully praying, sewing, and gardening. But the island is also home to Margaret, a mysterious young orphan girl whose life is upturned when the cold, regal stranger arrives. As Margaret grows closer to Eleanor, she grapples with the revelation of the island’s sinister true purpose as well as the truth of her own past. When Eleanor’s life is threatened, Margaret is faced with a perilous choice between helping Eleanor and protecting herself. In a hybrid novel of fictionalized history, Dylan Meconis paints Margaret’s world in soft greens, grays, and reds, transporting readers to a quiet, windswept island at the heart of a treasonous royal plot.

For over a decade Nefertiti, wife of the heretic king Akhenaten, was the most influential woman in the Bronze Age world; a beautiful queen blessed by the sun-god, adored by her family and worshipped by her people. Her image and her name were celebrated throughout Egypt and her future seemed golden. Suddenly Nefertiti disappeared from the royal family, vanishing so completely that it was as if she had never been. No record survives to detail her death, no monument serves to mourn her passing and to this day her end remains an enigma - her body has never been found. Joyce Tyldesley here provides a detailed discussion of the life and times of Nefertiti, Egypt's sun queen, set against the background of the ephemeral Amarna court.

Queen Victoria fell in love with the Riviera when she discovered it on her first visit to Menton in 1882 and her enchantment with this 'paradise of nature' endured for almost twenty years. Victoria's visits helped to transform the French Riviera by paving the way for other European royalty, the aristocracy and the very rich, who were to turn it into their pleasure garden. Michael Nelson paints a fascinating portrait of Victoria and her dealings with local people of all classes, statesmen and the constant stream of visiting crown heads. In the process we see an unexpected side to Victoria: not the imperious, petulant, mourning widow but rather an exuberant girlish old lady thrilled by her surroundings. Queen Victoria and the Discovery of the Riviera is an absorbing and revealing account that makes an important contribution to both our understanding of Victoria's character and personality and our view of the late Victorian period.
