In 1878, Dr. Thomas Davis Parks wrote an account of his family history. It is a wonderful description of many family members back in the 1700s and 1800s. Many of them he knew personally, and others he knew about second-hand. He started his write-up with his great-grandfather, Robert Cunningham, who was born in Northern Ireland and was a pioneering settler in The Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The vast majority of the account concerns Robert's daughter Martha, her husband Walter Davis, and their descendants. This book adds much detail about many of the people that Dr. Parks discussed and extends the account to six generations of descendants.
