John Guild was born in about 1609 in Suffolk, England. He married Elizabeth Crooke, daughter of Roger Crooke and Sara, in 1645 in Dedham, Massachusetts. They had seven children. He died in 1682. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Indiana, Nevada and California.

The twelfth-century French poet Chrétien de Troyes is a major figure in European literature. His courtly romances fathered the Arthurian tradition and influenced countless other poets in England as well as on the continent.
