Download D-Zero Results on W Boson Properties Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The D0 experiment collected[approx] 15 pb[sup -1] in run 1A (1992- 1993) and[approx] 89 pb[sup -1] in run 1B (1994-1995) of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider using p[anti p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV. Results from analyses of events with W and Z bosons are presented for the run 1B data samples. From W[yields] e[nu], [mu][nu] and Z[yields] ee, [mu][mu] decays, the W and Z production cross sections and the W width are determined. Events with W[yields][tau][nu] decays are used to determine the ratio of the electroweak gauge coupling constants as a measure of lepton universality. Using W[yields] e[nu] and Z[yields] ee decays, the W boson mass is measured.

Download 60 Years Of Cern Experiments And Discoveries Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The book is a compilation of the most important experimental results achieved during the past 60 years at CERN - from the mid-1950s to the latest discovery of the Higgs particle. Covering the results from the early accelerators at CERN to those most recent at the LHC, the contents provide an excellent review of the achievements of this outstanding laboratory. Not only presented is the impressive scientific progress achieved during the past six decades, but also demonstrated is the special way in which successful international collaboration exists at CERN.

Download The God Particle Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
A fascinating tour of particle physics from Nobel Prize winner Leon Lederman. At the root of particle physics is an invincible sense of curiosity. Leon Lederman embraces this spirit of inquiry as he moves from the Greeks' earliest scientific observations to Einstein and beyond to chart this unique arm of scientific study. His survey concludes with the Higgs boson, nicknamed the God Particle, which scientists hypothesize will help unlock the last secrets of the subatomic universe, quarks and all--it's the dogged pursuit of this almost mystical entity that inspires Lederman's witty and accessible history.

Download W Mass and Properties Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Precise measurements of the mass and width of the W boson are sensitive to radiative corrections and can be used to place limits on new physics beyond the Standard Model and validate the consistency of the model. In particular, the W boson mass constrains the mass of the, as yet unobserved, Higgs boson and the width can be used to place limits on the existence of new particles that couple to the W. Results are presented from p{bar p} collisions recorded by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, operating at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The uncertainty on the W mass is determined to be 76 MeV by CDF and the width, by D0, to be 2011 {+-} 90 (stat.) {+-} 107 (syst.) MeV.

Download The Physics of the Z and W Bosons Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
For the first time, this invaluable book shows how cardiac perfusion and pumping can be quantified and correlated. Self-contained and unified in presentation, the explanations in the compendium are detailed enough to capture the reader's curiosity and complete enough to provide the background material to explore further into the subject. Mathematically rigorous and clinically oriented, the book is a major resource for cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and clinicians. For students, it is an ideal textbook for senior-level courses in cardiovascular engineering.

Download The Standard Theory of Particle Physics Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The book gives a quite complete and up-to-date picture of the Standard Theory with an historical perspective, with a collection of articles written by some of the protagonists of present particle physics. The theoretical developments are described together with the most up-to-date experimental tests, including the discovery of the Higgs Boson and the measurement of its mass as well as the most precise measurements of the top mass, giving the reader a complete description of our present understanding of particle physics.
