Berly, who had been appointed delegate to the Synod of Georgia, reported that it was deemed impracticable to have a meeting of that body, and hence he had no report of his mission to make. Rev. Dri Bachman, chairman of the delegation to the Gen eral Convention of the Lutheran Church in the Confederate States, made'a verbal statement of his inability to attend and the reasons thereof, and also encouraged the Synod to go On earnestly with their work. For the Church, her institutions, and her literature must be sustained, and there was a unanim ity throughout our Confederacy upon these points, although the distracted state of the country might prevent a union of council. We should therefore not despond, but look up. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
