It is put forward in the hope that it may prevent duplication of labour on the part of ambitious inventors, and that it may give engineers not already familiar with the subject a starting point in the application of a new method of turning ores to account. My debt to the labour and assistance of others can hardly be acknowledged adequately. To the directors of Minerals Separation, Ltd., cordial thanks are due for permission to publish much information collected during four years while acting as their general manager and consulting engineer. Although this permission is kindly granted, they are not necessarily in agreement with all the opinions expressed, and, in fact, quite properly oppose some of the views set forth. To H.
