The past year has been a difficult and trying one for business practically the world over, and Canada has suffered in common with other nations from the. Commercial and economic conditions obtaining. The year has been a year of deflation, and deflation is always difficult. During the first' portion of the year the price of commodities, instead of declin ing after the cessation of hostilities, as was generally expected sharply rose.
