CIA agent Bill Hefflin is back in Bucharest— immersed in a cauldron of spies and crooked politicians The CIA is rocked to its core when a KGB defector divulges that there is a KGB mole inside the Agency. They learn that the mole' s handler is a KGB agent known as Boris. CIA analyst Bill Hefflin recognizes that name— Boris is the code name of Hefflin' s longtime KGB asset. If the defector is correct, Hefflin realizes Boris must be a triple agent, and his supposed mole has been passing false intel to Hefflin and the CIA. What' s more, this makes Hefflin the prime suspect as the KGB mole inside the Agency. Hefflin is given a chance to prove his innocence by returning to his city of birth, Bucharest, Romania, to find Boris and track down the identity of the mole. It' s been three years since the bloody revolution, and what he finds is a cauldron of spies, crooked politicians, and a country controlled by the underground and the new oligarchs, all of whom want to find Boris. But Hefflin has a secret that no one else knows— Boris has been dead for over a year. Perfect for fans of John le Carré and Brad Thor While the novels in the Bill Hefflin Spy Thriller Series stand on their own and can be read in any order, the publication sequence is: The Bucharest Dossier The Bucharest Legacy

An insider's account of Romania's emergence from communism control In the 1970s American attorney Alfred H. Moses was approached on the streets of Bucharest by young Jews seeking help to emigrate to Israel. This became the author's mission until the communist regime fell in 1989. Before that Moses had met periodically with Romania's communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, to persuade him to allow increased Jewish emigration. This experience deepened Moses's interest in Romania—an interest that culminated in his serving as U.S. ambassador to the country from 1994 to 1997 during the Clinton administration. The ambassador's time of service in Romania came just a few years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent collapse of communism in Eastern Europe. During this period Romania faced economic paralysis and was still buried in the rubble of communism. Over the next three years Moses helped nurture Romania's nascent democratic institutions, promoted privatization of Romania's economy, and shepherded Romania on the path toward full integration with Western institutions. Through frequent press conferences, speeches, and writings in the Romanian and Western press and in his meetings with Romanian officials at the highest level, he stated in plain language the steps Romania needed to take before it could be accepted in the West as a free and democratic country. Bucharest Diary: An American Ambassador's Journey is filled with firsthand stories, including colorful anecdotes, of the diplomacy, both public and private, that helped Romania recover from four decades of communist rule and, eventually, become a member of both NATO and the European Union. Romania still struggles today with the consequences of its history, but it has reached many of its post-communist goals, which Ambassador Moses championed at a crucial time. This book will be of special interest to readers of history and public affairs—in particular those interested in Jewish life under communist rule in Eastern Europe and how the United States and its Western partners helped rebuild an important country devastated by communism.

‘Bucharest City Tour, A Trip with Sonia’ is a children’s book in English, written by one of the youngest authors in Romania, Sonia Marta, who at only 12 years old is already completing her third editorial experience. Through the book you can follow the journey of three friends going on school trip with Bucharest City Tour Bus, discovering many monuments along the way, learning facts and figures about some of the wonderful landmarks Bucharest has to offer. ‘Sonia is a very bright, creative, and lovely young lady. Nowadays, when kids are spending most of their spare time playing video games or visiting city malls, she reads books, enjoys going to the opera, and she writes. But she writes amazing! And I think that her dream – becoming a successful writer – will come true. Certainly, many families will join her trip and will discover or rediscover the beautiful city and its landmarks, as she did with her friends, with her family or with her school colleagues.’ says Oana Ionașcu, the book editor. Here are few quotes from readers of ‘Bucharest City Tour, A Trip with Sonia’: ‘A beautifully written and illustrated story of a magical journey through the wonderful sites of Bucharest. Sonia and her friends take us on an eye-opening tour, learning all about the city and it’s landmarked on the way!’ – Laura Hawkins, International British School of Bucharest, Head of Creative Arts, UK ‘A heart-felt, yet incredibly informative journey through the beautiful city of Bucharest: a city just waiting to be discovered. A must read for anyone wanting to visit!’ – Jack Oldham, International British School of Bucharest, Teacher, UK ‘A book written with passion and illustrated in a precious and memorable way. A book to cherish about Bucharest, a cosmopolite city I love.’ – Giuliana Arena, Writer, Italy ‘When coming to Bucharest for the first time I was looking for a book like this to explain to my children more about the new city we were about to settle in. A joy to read it now, after two years of being here.’ – Daria Dietrich, Freelancer, Russia

Bilingual English/Romanian Guide (Ghid bilingv engleză/română) Bucharest offers some excellent attractions, and during the recent years has cultivated a sophisticated, trendy, and modern sensibility that many have come to expect from a European capital. Perhaps the most prominent landmark is the Palace of the Parliament, built in the 1980s during the reign of Communist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. The largest Parliament building in the world, the Palace houses the Romanian Parliament (the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate), as well as the National Museum of Contemporary Art. The building boasts one of the largest convention centres in the world. Culture in Bucharest, included within the whole Romanian culture, is a unique culture, which is the product of its geography and its distinct historical evolution. Romanians, (Proto-Romanians, including Aromanians, Megleno-Romanians, and Istro-Romanians) are the descendants of the ancient people indigenous to the Balkans, but have been Romanized. Bucharest has a growing cultural scene, in fields including the visual arts, performing arts and nightlife. Unlike other parts of Romania, such as the Black Sea coast or Transylvania, Bucharest's cultural scene has no defined style, and instead incorporates elements of Romanian and international culture.
