Meet a young warthog with a taste for adventure. “A fun easy reader book with great full-color cartoons, brief text in large print, and likable characters.” —School Library Journal Boris lives with his mom and dad in Hogg Bay. Their home is a van that once traveled all over the world. Then one morning, Boris feels a jolt. Could it be? Is the van really moving? Is Boris on an adventure at last? But when Boris ends up on a trip to a wildlife refuge instead of the jungle safari he’d imagined, he ends up having an adventure he’ll never forget. Because for this little warthog, life never quite turns out as he plans. This series is part of Scholastic’s early chapter book line called Branches, which is aimed at newly independent readers. With easy-to-read text, high-interest content, fast-paced plots, and illustrations on every page, these books will boost reading confidence and stamina. Branches books help readers grow! “An early reader shaped just like a chapter book: What’s not to love? . . . For emergent readers who view themselves as accomplished (or wish to be seen that way), this . . . might just be the perfect choice . . . Full-color illustrations of his humorously anthropomorphized hog family and just one or two sentences of easy, large-print text per page make this an inviting read for transitioning readers.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Download The Wit and Wisdom of Boris Johnson Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
A return to the wit and wisdom of Boris Johnson – Brexiteer, Foreign Secretary, Prime Minister. New and updated edition. 2019 – the year that Boris took on the 'lingering gloomadon-poppers', pledged to steer the UK between the 'Scylla and Charybdis of Corbyn and Farage' and into the calmer waters of political freedom. Of course there was always bound to be 'a bit of plaster coming off the ceilings of Europe's Chanceries'. Harry Mount has updated his edited collection of the Prime Minister's wit and wisdom with three new chapters dealing with Boris's time as Brexiteer-in-chief; Foreign Secretary and 'On the Threshold of Downing Street'. He describes Boris's Brexit campaign, his leadership breakdown in 2016, his ups and downs as Foreign Secretary, his time outside the political establishment, his turbulent private life and how Boris felt it was his manifest destiny to become the Prime Minister. So buckle up for a riotous tour of the million-pound NHS funder, golden wonder, pro-having, pro-eating blond behemoth. This is the Wit and Wisdom of Boris Johnson.

When he is compelled to take up ballet, Boris learns, through the discipline and the dance, that he can connect with others, that he has something to give, and that he can enjoy himself and be happy. Like so many millions of other misguided people, I am a conditioned result of a celebrity-worshipping culture, systematically taught that fame and fortune are admirable goals and that celebrities are somehow superior beings, like gods, if you will. It has taken many years to expunge oneself from this false frivolity. Although many Halloweens have come and gone, I am finally cured of what today is labeled Celebrity Worship Syndrome. I believe that I'm not alone and I feel better. The following is not just another Hollywood Who's Who or Kiss and Tell book (with a couple of exceptions.) It is, however, peppered in part with an ample supply of sometimes meaningless and petty gossip; Now, my grandchildren and I can commiserate over whom Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan are dating. As is the propensity for certain current and former star-struck fools, like myself, to spew forth tales of meetings with famous people, just so, I have chosen to believe that these writings simply screamed out for ubiquitously shameless namedropping, thus, I giggled and gave in, while fully realizing than no one under forty will recognize half of the names mentioned (other than the two aforementioned). Anyway, Viva Hollywood! This memoir might be viewed as a personal record of one man's almost (in the Buddhist sense of not fully awakened) human encounter with the banal and the divine.
