No statements have ever been given in these Reports of the births or deaths that occur in the cities of the State, except as the population of the cities is included in that of the various counties. The facts taken from the last census Show that the urban pcpu lation is increasing much faster in Michigan than the rural. The birth rates and death-rates of our cities are probably markedly higher than that of the country surrounding them. It is time that some authentic informa tion was given On this subject, and in the Report for 1892, now in prepara tion, an effort will be made to present certain details of importance in regard to the vital statistics of the cities of Michigan.
