Descendants of William Lewis I (1594-1683), born in Llandough, Wales, the son of William Lewis and Sarah Cathcart. He married Felix Collins (d. 1671) in 1618. She was the daughter of Walter and Felicia (Bandrib) Collins. With his wife and only son William, William I sailed from England in the ship "Lion" June 27, 1632, arriving at Boston on Sept. 16, 1632. In 1636 he settled in Hartford, Conn., where he was one of the original proprietors, being a land holder in 1639. In 1659 he and his son William II became first settlers of Hadley, Mass., where his wife Felix died in 1671. After his wife's death he permanently moved to Farmington, Conn. Descendants live in New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Oregon, Illinois, Florida and elsewhere.
